It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Spivey, of Waycross, who departed this life on September 22nd, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late John Spivey, with whom she shared a lifetime of family, friendship, and cherished traditions. Born and raised in Douglas, Elaine grew up alongside her sister, Eleanor, with whom she shared a close and lasting bond. Elaine was a loving mother to four children: Barney Spivey (wife Amy) of Douglas, Jaye Smith (husband Chuck) of Fernandina, John Spivey (wife Mary Ford) of Douglas, and Andy Spivey (wife Kim) of Blackshear. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Luell and Lester Brown; and her sister, Eleanor.
