Digital and online spaces are public squares, mirroring and impacting our analogue worlds. Technology platforms can shape discourse, social interactions, economic opportunities, access to information, and the strength of democracy itself. If philanthropy is serious about building a better, more equitable, and just world, it must recognise that supporting the growth of alternative structures to shift power and access in online engagement, is core to that. It’s core to healthy democracies, ending gender-based violence, and reducing inequality globally.
