With bad light being a common theme throughout the Test and conditions deteriorating, India surprisingly batted till the very end of Day 4, declaring with only a handful of overs remaining. But on Day 5, instead of putting on runs and giving bowlers time to pick up the wickets, the team ended up playing out over 30 overs to stretch their lead to 374 despite having crossed the 300-run mark at Lunch. The extra overs that India played out proved to be quite costly as India picked up seven wickets in just 36 overs and could have bowled Pakistan out with just a few more overs.
