Two examples include Texas in the US with its stringent gambling regulations and Hungary as an EU nation with its tightly regulated but legal betting market – by comparing these regions we can gain insight into how cultural, legal and economic factors shape sports betting legislation. Attitudes towards legal sports betting have slowly begun changing among younger residents who see regulation as preferable to illegal offshore sites; polls indicate a slim majority now supports legal sports betting but opposition remains strong in rural areas and among older voters.
