Local food shelves depend upon donations year-round, but summer can be a very quiet season of giving — holiday food drives are many months away, food drives within schools are “on pause” and we are many months past the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign. The Lakes Area Food Shelf, operating two locations in Crow Wing County in Baxter and Pequot Lakes, serves roughly 1,000 unique households monthly. Lakes Area Food Shelf is able to do this because of the generous support from the residents of the Brainerd lakes area.
