Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a family disturbance in the 100 block of Eighth Street in Corydon at about 7:20 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. When the deputy arrived at that location, he encountered Charles Powell Jr. 64, of Corydon. The deputy discharged his taser, but Powell continued approaching the deputy. The officer provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived, but Powell succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Deaconess Henderson Hospital. KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
