The figures are based on registered churches, meaning the actual number could be higher in countries where house churches and unregistered congregations are common. Many of the country’s churches are affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church. StatiSence, however, said that the figures cited in the original ranking are estimates of registered church buildings and should not be interpreted as an official global census of churches.
