The issue teams have complained about with the American Racer tires on the Whelen Modified Tour has been that the inventory of tires brought to races has been not consistent across the board. Despite numerous testing efforts over the last few months by America Racer to alleviate issues with tire consistency and reliability, teams were still concerned by issues they were facing right up through Wednesday’s 11th event of the season on Wednesday at Thompson Speedway. On Wednesday at Thompson Speedway, two series drivers, speaking off the record, indicated that if tires are showing concerning issues of “shredding” or coming apart during practice in Loudon, that there’s a high likelihood that numerous teams may opt to withdraw from the race and not run the event on Saturday.
