MIDDLEBURY [mdash] Eli L. Helmuth, 73, Middlebury, (District: 62-1), died at 5:56 p.m. Mountain Time Thursday, Aug. 21, at Union Train Station in Denver, Colorado. His death was unexpected and was from an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 27, 1951, in Middlebury to Levi M. and Ida (Mast) Helmuth. On Oct. 5, 1972, in Centreville, Michigan,I he married Mary Ellen Schwartz. She survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Eli Jr. (Verna) Helmuth of Goshen, Rosanna Kay Helmuth of Middlebury, Sue Anna (Marion) Miller of Goshen, Esther (Kenneth) Bontrager of Goshen, Allen Ray (Linda) Helmuth of Cooks Mills, Illinois, Matthew Dean (Rosanna) Helmuth of Lovington, Illinois, Samuel Jay (Ruth Ann) Helmuth of LaGrange, Louella Fern Helmuth of Middlebury; 32 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Glen Helmuth of Goshen, David (Barbara) Helmuth of Goshen, Harvey (Betty) Helmuth of Shipshewana, Walter (Susie) Helmuth of Tallahassee, Florida; two stepsisters, Vera (Ron-deceased) Collins, Ruth Ann (Eli) Bontrager; two stepbrothers, Leland (Edna-deceased) Yoder, Lester (Mattie) Yoder. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Wilma Helmuth; two sisters, Clara Mae Miller and a stillborn sister, Lucy Helmuth; a sister-in-law, Mary Edna Helmuth. Eli was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and had worked for over 25 years for the Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and all day Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Lavon Yoder residence, 59605 E. County Line Road, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop LeRoy Lehman and the home ministers. Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is in charge of arrangements.
