ELKHART [mdash] Janet E. Weaver, 86, passed away Aug. 25, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Lagrange, to Glenn and Luella (Christner) Troyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Slabach; grandson, Timothy Hughes; five siblings, Gerald Troyer, James Troyer, David Troyer, Nancy Yoder, and Dennis Troyer. Surviving are two grandsons, Bryce Metcalf, Nathaniel Metcalf; three siblings, Roberta Steider, Dorothy Troyer, Carol Troyer; a sister-in-law, Kathy Troyer; and her best friend, Jeanne Jacobs. Janet graduated from Bethany Christian School in 1957 and worked at Adams & Westlake for many years. She is member of Creekside Church of the Brethren, where she was very active by being a former Sunday school teacher, an usher, baking for church functions, spending time in the garden, singing in the church choir, and more. Janet enjoyed reading, going to church bazaars, attending many Notre Dame girls basketball games, and even bowled in a league in her younger years. She will be remembered for her kindness to others and her strong faith. Visitation will be from noon-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd. Elkhart, Indiana 46516. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Creekside Church of the Brethren, 60455 C.R. 113, Elkhart, Indiana 46517. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. in Shore Cemetery, 7235 100 North, Shipshewana, Indiana 46565. Officiating will be Pastor Rosanna McFadden from Creekside Church of the Brethren. Memorial contributions may be given to the Church.
