Mitchell Daily Republic | Mitchell, South Dakota
Over the course of the 10-day Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the South Dakota Highway Patrol releases daily information on crashes and crime in and around the city of Sturgis. Known as the Rally Tally, the daily release includes information on investigations conducted only by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and does not include statistics compiled by other law enforcement agencies, including the Sturgis Police Department and various county sheriff’s offices. — Shortly after 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was eastbound on South Dakota 34 roughly 3 miles southeast of Belle Fourche when troopers say the 29-year-old male operator lost control while slowing to turn into a private drive.
