The Brownhills Canal Festival – organised by the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust (LHCRT) – takes place from 10am to 4pm on 15th and 16th August. The trust said its work would eventually see the waterway connecting the Lichfield Canal with the Wyrley and Essington Canal in Brownhills, as well as the wider national network. “With Brownhills sitting at the top end of the Lichfield Canal, it makes perfect sense for us to bring the community together, showcase the canal at Silver Street – a stretch that currently sees little boat use – and highlight the importance of the Lichfield Canal restoration for the future of the waterways in both Brownhills and Lichfield.
