LIGONIER [mdash] Harley D. Yoder, 62, of Ligonier, (bishop of District 24), died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at his residence, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 10, 1963, in LaGrange, to Dan W. and Susie (Schlabach) Yoder. On Oct. 13, 1983, in Ligonier, he married Loretta Sue Miller. She survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are seven children, Vera (Sam) Beechy of LaGrange, Vernon (Rose) Yoder of Wolcottville, Carolyn (Elmer) Bontrager of Topeka, Edna (LeRoy) Miller of LaGrange, Glen (Marla) Yoder of Ligonier, Mary (Joe) Schrock of Wolcottville, Richard Yoder, at home; 31 grandchildren; father, Dan W. of Topeka; four sisters, Edna Yoder of Topeka, Saranna (Melvin) Schrock of LaGrange, Erma (Melvin) Graber of Grabill, Sue (Ernest) Miller of LaGrange; brother, Mervin (Ruth) Yoder of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his mother; two daughters, Norma Jean Miller and Doris Ann Yoder; two sons, Devon Eugene and Delmar Lynn Yoder; two grandsons, Jason Wayne and Lyle James Miller; brother, LaVern D. (Mattie) Yoder; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mervin M. and Vera (Yoder) Miller. Harley was a farmer and was ordained as bishop in the Old Order Amish Church in 2017. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, and all day Sunday, Sept.14, at the family residence, 4763 W. 1100 North, Ligonier. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Daniel Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Clearspring Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling the arrangements.
