New Delhi: The Centre has released Rs 4,102 crore to states and Union territories (UTs) for training of census functionaries, manpower assistance, technical infrastructure and honorarium, the Rajya Sabha was informed Wednesday. In a written response to a query, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said the first phase of Census 2027 — the houselisting and housing census — has already been completed in 31 states and UTs. “Till now, a total amount of Rs 4,102 crore has been released to States/UTs for training of census functionaries, manpower assistance, technical infrastructure, payment of honorarium to census functionaries, etc,” the reply read.
