Apple Reference Image Could Verify Photos Were Really Taken on an iPhone
['Rajat Saini']
The Mac Observer
Apple is developing a new photo verification system called Apple Reference Image that can confirm whether a photo was actually captured with an iPhone camera. Apple can then use that information to authenticate the image and confirm that it came from a physical iPhone camera sensor. When a user taps the Reference badge on a supported image, the iPhone sends sensor signatures, capture timing information, hardware identifiers and other verification data to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers.
