British developer Supermassive Games has announced that they are laying off up to 75 employees, the announcement coming a few months after the release of Directive 8020. The studio has been a notable part of the Guildford game development scene since its founding 2008, with its first big hit being the horror game Until Dawn in 2015. 2019 saw them return to the well of narrative horror with The Dark Pictures Anthology series, gaining more backing to produce The Quarry for 2K in 2022 – the same year they were acquired outright by Nordisk Games – The Casting of Frank Stone for Behavior Interactive in 2024 and Little Nightmares III for Bandai Namco in 2025.
