Three Evanston councilmembers want to move up last call at Northwestern University’s new Ryan Field, submitting a referral last week to shift the cutoff time for liquor sales at the new stadium from 30 minutes before events end to an hour. The change would specifically target the city’s Class N-3 liquor license, which only applies to the new Ryan Field and was created as part of a larger liquor code overhaul approved by City Council in January 2025. She initially wanted to hold the liquor license approval until the council’s next meeting on Aug. 24, but didn’t move to do so after Corporation Counsel Alex Ruggie explained that changing the cutoff time would require amending the liquor code rather than just the individual license on the agenda that night.
