According to those affected, around 8 boats and approximately 10 people have been unable to relaunch their vessels after access to the marina’s launch area was blocked. The boat owners’ predicament stems from a land dispute dating back more than a decade, after Carriacou Devcor Ltd (CDC), developer of the Tyrell Bay Marina project, received government approval in 2013 to lease approximately 7 acres of an adjoining mangrove land for expansion. An email requesting comment was sent to Jerome McQuilkin of Tyrell Bay Marina seeking information on the marina’s response to the judgment, the effect on operations, and measures being taken to assist affected boat owners.
