The large Footlocker store on Brixton Road has suddenly and unexpectedly closed down, with large ‘Unit To Let’ signs now filling their windows. Footlocker’s original shop on the corner of Brixton Road and Atlantic Road was hit hard by the 2011 riots, with the store being looted, set on fire and suffering extensive damage, with the flames continuing to smoulder for two weeks. With those premises being taken over by an O2 phone store in January 2013, the company returned to Brixton three years later, moving into the former Shoe Zone store at 442 Brixton Road.
