Comment on Legislation on renter’s rights in the pipeline by Kerith
['James Whittaker']
Comments for Cayman Compass
Landlords must give 60 days’ written notice of any increase, cannot raise rent more than once a year, and cannot increase rent within the first year of a new tenancy. The newer amendments include the creation of a new residential tenancies commission – rather than a single public servant envisaged in the 2009 law – that would mediate disputes between tenants and landlords and requires landlords to give notice to tenants before putting a property up for sale.
