A police spokesperson said: "Whilst dealing with a road traffic collision yesterday, officers witnessed and identified seven drivers using a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving past the incident. "It's disappointing that, despite the presence of emergency services and an active collision incident, some motorists still choose to use a hand-held device whilst driving." The penalty for using a hand-held mobile phone while driving is a £200 fixed penalty notice and six points on the driver’s licence.
