From January 2022 to June 2026, Washington’s population grew by 321,000 people (4%), and the number of gasoline and diesel vehicles dropped by 373,000 vehicles (6%), according to data from the Washington State Department of Licensing. Meanwhile, the number of gasoline vehicles in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace has dropped 6% (5,375 vehicles) since 2022. With the Iran war raising gasoline prices, families with both EVs and gasoline cars are likely to leave the gas cars at home.
