Rose Grewal, leader of the council, said it was “absolutely right” that the council had consulted residents on the plans, and added that the authority would continue to look at “other options” for adding leisure facilities in the borough. Max Holloway, cabinet member for leisure, said the council’s Labour-Liberal Democrat administration had “carefully reflected” on the consultation, which received more than 4,400 responses. Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is currently preparing a new Local Plan, the blueprint for future development in the area and, if the Panshanger Golf Club proposals had advanced, they would have been included in that plan.
