Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s cabinet agreed yesterday (Tuesday, August 11) to pay Falcon Structural Repairs £44,000 to carry out the repairs, which are needed after erosion and high river levels resulted in uneven surfacing and missing paving. Cllr Gemma Moore, executive member for housing, said the worsening condition of the path had led to a “growing risk of trips and falls” and could have led to a full closure of the path if it was left unresolved. According to a council report, there have been “increased complaints from park users” about the pathway next to the embankment becoming narrower, especially where it runs under the road dividing the north and south areas of Stanborough Park, despite “numerous repairs” being carried out.
