At the time, a planning statement highlighted the additional facilities, stating: "In addition to the facilities for use by the business school, a sport studio and multi-faith space are proposed in order to enhance the campus and student experience. "The university has identified a development plot between Hertfordshire Sports Village and Block R, providing opportunity for a sustainable, high-quality, multi-purpose teaching building in a central campus location. "With significant growth in the postgraduate community, the new building proposes to accommodate its increasing teaching space needs, as well as providing postgraduates with an improved identity on campus."
