The company raised $6 billion at a $24 billion valuation within a year of launching its first model, Grok, and Musk leaned on the company to build a “maximally truth-seeking” alternative — an ambition that later extended into products like Grokipedia, xAI’s answer to what Musk considers a biased Wikipedia.
