Mystery surrounds dozens of dead sharks found at the Jersey shore SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A mystery is unfolding at the Jersey shore after nearly 30 small dogfish sharks were found dead along a stretch of beach in Sea Isle City. The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife said it is also common during the summer for dogfish and other small sharks to forage close to shore and become trapped near sandbars as the tide recedes.
