More air conditioning, electric vehicles, electric heating and especially large data centers and AI are putting even more pressure on the power grid. New Jersey also has an expensive electric grid to maintain, including all those poles, wires, substations and other equipment needed to get electricity to our homes and businesses here in New Jersey. According to a Patch report, "Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is looking to hike customers' electricity bills by almost 9 percent, or an additional $170 per year."
