The Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors gathered Monday in Boydton and honored two county residents for their longevity – recognizing longtime planning commission member Jarious Lassiter upon his retirement and congratulating Rosa Lee Williams Stone ahead of her 100th birthday on Aug. 25. Lassiter, who served on the Mecklenburg County Planning Commission for 36 years, from 1990 until April, was praised for his thoughtful leadership, sound judgment and dedication to guiding the county’s growth. Supervisors also honored Stone, who was born Aug. 25, 1926 in Lunenburg County and later made Mecklenburg County her home after marrying Lewis Robert Stone.
