“The majority of the Roanoke River Basin [surrounding Kerr Lake] is in either a severe drought or extreme drought,” said Thomas Coleman, USACE chief ranger of recreation at John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake. Coleman said on Friday, Aug. 7 at 9:40 a.m., the current water level for Kerr Lake was 294.25 feet MSL (Mean Sea Level). Coleman also reminded lake goers that lower water levels can affect the lake’s access points and boat ramps.
