ALEXANDRIA — The second annual Young Hearts for Heroes event was held last month in Alexandria City Park.
An effort to bridge the gap in understanding the ongoing sacrifice of our soldiers and their families, participants had the opportunity to “march one mile in a soldier’s boots” or run a 5K to honor our veterans.
ADVERTISEMENTLocal military family Daryl and Casi Giese, were honored for over 20 years of service and sacrifice, both abroad and at home.
Funds raised supported the Alexandria Veterans Honor Guard and Sacred Journey Academy.
Event sponsors included Echo Electric, Douglas Machine, Juettner Motors, iBeach Tan and Nails, Veterans Post #936, Mead Electric, Rentz Agency, Leighton Media, Old National Bank, Viking Bank, Geneva Capital, and Arnquist Flooring.
