A housewife, Hadiza Abdullahi, on Wednesday dragged her husband, Isa Usman, before a Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, seeking divorce on grounds of lack of love. The complainant, through her lawyer, Abubakar Suleiman, told the court that she was no longer in love with her husband and could no longer remain in the marriage. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Khul’i is a form of divorce in which a woman returns the dowry paid by her husband in exchange for her freedom from the marriage. Mrs Suleiman said his client had been married to the defendant for 35 years and that N1, 000 was paid as her dowry.
