The Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative visited Pearl River Community College’s Forrest County Campus on Saturday, Aug. 8, to promote eye health for seniors in celebration of National Health Center Week. The Initiative hosts monthly Senior Wellness Days, which provide free healthcare screenings for the senior community. Optometrist Amm Williams from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, spoke to the seniors about the importance of regular eye exams, emphasizing that they are crucial for identifying diseases and maintaining good eyesight. The Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative will return to Pearl River Community College’s Forrest County Campus for its next Senior Wellness Day on Saturday, Sept. 12.
