Black radio personalities are shapers of contemporary Black culture. Saturday afternoon, the St. Louis National Black Radio Hall of Fame issued a reminder of that legacy with The Golden Era of Black Radio fundraiser and tribute to its board member, the late radio legend Doug Eason. “I can proudly announce that I have been fired from every radio station in St. Louis,” JR said. After guests walked the red carpet, shared stories about their contributions to Black radio in St. Louis, and mingled, it was time to honor Eason. “He was shaping young broadcasters and providing mentorship that would shape St. Louis radio for decades,” she said.
