Premier André Ebanks(CNS): Wearing his financial services minister’s hat, Premier André Ebanks is in Columbus, Ohio, this week to support the insurance and reinsurance sector by encouraging engagement with key US government, policy and financial services stakeholders. Ebanks is leading a Cayman Islands delegation to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) 2026 Summer National Meeting, where federal and state regulators and international attendees are gathered to discuss matters affecting the US insurance sector, such as annuity structures, property and casualty coverage developments, and market regulation. A release about the the trip said it is part of the CIG’s ongoing efforts to enhance relationships with US insurance regulators and other key stakeholders, support effective international regulatory cooperation, and reinforcing confidence in Cayman as a well-regulated and respected international insurance and reinsurance jurisdiction. The Cayman Islands has submitted an application to the NAIC for Qualified Jurisdiction Status, and the premier plans to discuss it further within the confines of the meeting. Ebanks is accompanied on the trip by Parliamentary Secretary Julie Hunter, Senior Policy Advisor Razaak Busari, Cabinet Office International Affairs Analyst Sean Whewell, and representatives from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
