Some Muncie residents have been evacuated from the south side of the city, as the high volume of rain has flooded homes. In a statement on social media, the city of Muncie says it’s evacuating neighborhoods from Madison Street east to Hackley Street and Memorial Drive south to 18th Street. And Muncie Community Schools have canceled in-person classes on what was scheduled to be the first day of school. Delaware County Commissioner Shannon Henry says the county is preparing a disaster declaration to vote on at the commissioner meeting on Monday. Disaster declarations can help residents and businesses apply for state or federal money to help with clean-up and repairs.
