RICHMOND, VA — Governor Abigail Spanberger on National Poll Worker Recruitment Day encouraged more Virginians to consider serving as poll workers on and ahead of Election Day this upcoming November. “Every year in our Commonwealth, poll workers play an essential role in supporting our secure, accurate, and fair elections and allowing Virginians to make their voices heard,” said Governor Abigail Spanberger. In Virginia, thousands of voters fulfill their civic duty every year by working in their polling place as Officers of Election — Virginia’s title for poll workers. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission has designated Tuesday, August 11 as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, providing an opportunity to spotlight and celebrate these Virginians’ critical public service.
