A bluetongue case refers to a location where one or more animals have tested positive for the virus. The first Scottish case was confirmed on August 8 in a single sheep. The second case, announced on August 12, involves two sheep on another farm in south-west Scotland. Bluetongue is a notifiable disease, and any suspicion of infection must be reported immediately to the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) Scotland.
