A Canadian CT-114 Tutor jet aircraft could soon be on display in Algonquin Highlands. A staff report coming to council on Aug. 13, says the estate of Hannu Halminen has expressed interest in donating the aircraft to the Township for public display. The Tutor jet is the same aircraft historically flown by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds demonstration team. The CT-114 Tutor served as the Royal Canadian Air Force’s primary jet trainer from 1963 until 2000 and remains one of Canada’s most recognizable aviation symbols. A staff recommendation suggests the Airport Committee lead a information gathering process before council makes a decision on whether to accept the donation.
