MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) — A proposed residential subdivision on Marshfield’s northwestern edge could ultimately leave the city after road-access problems stalled plans to develop the property.
The Common Council discussed Tuesday whether it should support detaching land near West McMillan Street and St. Joseph’s Avenue from Marshfield and returning it to the Town of McMillan.
But another obstacle emerged when the Town of McMillan rejected a request to connect the subdivision street to St. Joseph’s Avenue.
An alternative connection to West McMillan Street also appears difficult because of the street width that would have to be provided.
Staff said residential development remains a desirable use for the land but acknowledged development might be possible only if it returns to McMillan.
