MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) — The City of Marshfield will return nearly $78,000 in parkland dedication fees after officials determined the money was not spent within the period allowed under state law.
The Common Council approved Budget Resolution 17-2026 Tuesday, authorizing the refunds to developers who originally paid the fees.
Parkland dedication fees are collected in connection with development and are restricted to qualifying park purposes.
City officials said the funds generally must be used for a new park or a new amenity rather than ordinary maintenance or replacement of existing facilities.
City officials said state law would supersede any conflicting local provision.
