Kevin McDonald is no stranger to anyone familiar with Canadian comedy, and he brings his talents to the latest film from visionary writer-director Jane Schoenbrun’s, the meta slasher Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Part of her ideas include building a legacy sequel built around the final girl from the original Camp Miasma film, played by actress Billy Presley. The only problem is that Billy, played as an adult by Gillian Anderson, has become an eccentric recluse with few credits to her name since the initial success of Camp Miasma. McDonald stars as a local in town who was once cast in the role of a sheriff in the Camp Miasma movies, and he inhabits the role of a classic horror movie archetype: the person who has to fill in some of the backstory and lore. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma opens in select Canadian cities starting Friday, August 14, 2026, including on 35mm at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto.
