That's exactly how Lillie Vehling spent her Friday afternoon on July 31 – until it wasn't.
Vehling, a UC Davis student in Seattle for a summer internship, headed to Genesee Park on Lake Washington to watch the Navy's Blue Angels perform during Seafair weekend.
She's a certified lifeguard who runs her own swim-lesson program, “Lessons By Lillie,” and she's a competitive water polo player.
A college student is being praised as a HERO after she saw 3 little girls drowning in Lake Washington, jumped in, and saved ALL THREE GIRLS.
Three families in Seattle are grateful tonight that Lillie Vehling chose that bench, on that afternoon, with that book.
