IZAMAL, Yucatán — As part of Mexico’s 2026 National Reforestation Day, the state of Yucatán has launched an environmental initiative to restore 292 hectares of degraded land using more than 64,000 native plants.
The program directly impacts 16,790 residents while enhancing natural resources for over two million people across the state.
The project involves an investment exceeding 18 million pesos.
Reforestation teams are operating simultaneously across 14 municipalities, including Izamal, Tizimín, Motul, Panabá, Abalá, and Chocholá.
This campaign is integrated into Yucatán’s long-term environmental plan, Renacimiento Verde (“Green Renaissance”), which aims to plant 1.25 million trees statewide.
