Olivier Echaudemaison, who masterminded makeup for some of the most storied French luxury houses, died early Wednesday at age 84. “He has been a very meaningful part of my life,” Natori said Wednesday, describing Echaudemaison as “bigger than life. Echaudemaison left the meeting with that dream having become reality, as Guerlain’s creative director of makeup. “Makeup is about fun and freedom — about reconnecting, if only for minutes — with the delight of a little girl playing with her mom’s makeup,” Echaudemaison said. “I’m going to miss him badly, but you have to celebrate his life,” Natori said.
