Chiltern Rangers issued the warning after sharing a photograph taken at Keep Hill Wood in High Wycombe yesterday. The group said: “We’ve been polite thus far, but we’re at the end of that tether. It urged parents to challenge children who return home smelling of bonfire smoke and called on young people to discourage their parents from having bonfires or barbecues in woodland. Chiltern Rangers warned that drought and heatwave conditions had left nearby grass tinder-dry, creating a risk that sparks could cause a fire to spread. “Sparks from the fire could easily land in tinder-dry grass nearby.”
