ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is in Tehran where he engaged Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, putting Islamabad back in the spotlight as regional tensions continue to mount. During the meeting, Rezaei welcomed Pakistan’s active involvement in regional affairs, signalling Tehran’s recognition of Islamabad’s growing diplomatic role. Iranian security official also underlined the strategic importance of Pakistan-Iran relations, highlighting the close interests shared by the two neighbouring countries. The discussions have focused broadly on bilateral relations as well as political, economic, trade, cultural and security cooperation. The dispute over Hormuz has heightened concerns about international shipping, energy supplies and the wider economic consequences of any prolonged confrontation.
