KSTP Sports’ Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with Arden Hills native and former Gophers outfielder Brett Bateman after he made his MLB debut last week with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays acquired minor leaguers Bateman and Ty Southisene in a trade two weeks ago with the Cubs for pitcher Kevin Gausman. Toronto called him up last week and he made his major league debut on Friday night in Philadelphia. Bateman finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Blue Jays’ 5-3 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday. Brett Bateman spoke a lot about his journey to the big leagues, including the influence that John Anderson, his coach with the Gophers, had on him.
