Millions of people are preparing to witness a total solar eclipse this Wednesday, August 12, one of the year’s major astronomical events, as the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and briefly blocks the solar disk. A partial eclipse will be visible across a much wider area, including parts of North America, Europe, and northwest Africa. Spain will be one of the best places to observe the total eclipse. The Dominican Republic is outside the path of totality for the eclipse. The phenomenon will therefore not be visible here as a total eclipse, but residents can follow the event through NASA’s online livestream.
