Two years later he became a founding member of the Inverkeithing Rotary Club. But the community council did feel that David had gone the extra mile and praised his "exceptional service, longstanding commitment and contribution to Inverkeithing and the wider community." His commendation read: "Now approaching his 94th birthday, David has been a devoted member of the local Rotary for many years. "His efforts have supported initiatives such as Inverkeithing Pantry and the community garden, alongside numerous other causes that enrich and strengthen the town and wider area. "After retiring, he became fascinated by the art of making rocking horses and dedicated himself to mastering the skills involved.
